Associate Pharmacy Technician at Providence Health and Services summary:

The Associate Pharmacy Technician assists in the accurate and safe preparation and dispensing of medications including unit dose, IV, and chemotherapeutic drugs in a hospital pharmacy setting. They are required to have a Pharmacy Technician license, relevant training, and experience in aseptic techniques and hospital pharmacy operations. The role supports patient-focused care within a collaborative healthcare team at Providence Centralia Hospital.

Description

Performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose, IV and chemotherapeutic medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt, safe and accurate manner. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the Sisters of Providence Mission and Philosophy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Level A training program certified by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy. Or equivalent educ/experience
  • Upon hire: Washington Pharmacy Technician License
  • Experience with telephone call prioritization.
  • Experience with stressful/urgent need situations.
  • 3 months Practical experience in a hospital pharmacy under the direct supervision of pharmacist.
  • Experienced in IV admixture/aseptic techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year Hospital pharmacy experience.
