Construction Engineer 2 (CE-2) – PE Required (Base Pay $48 / hr; higher rates offered based on experience and qualifications)

Cincinnati, Ohio

We’re looking for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with at least 5 years of experience in civil construction to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to grow into a long-term leadership role while staying actively involved in field operations.

In this role, you’ll work under a senior CE-2 to support roadway and bridge projects across the Cincinnati region. The position is open for immediate hire . The work will be both office-based and field-based , with a significant portion of your time spent on-site supporting inspection teams, contractors, and field operations. You will develop the experience and capability needed to serve as a lead CE-2 on future projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support and eventually lead daily construction engineering functions on ODOT and LPA roadway/bridge projects .
• Assist in oversight of daily project operations in the office and in the field.
• Interpret and apply plans, specifications, and quality standards.
• Work in field inspecting and supporting inspection staff on heavy civil roadway and bridge projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and inspection staff to maintain progress and compliance.
• Help prepare field reports, pay estimates, and other required documentation.
• Material testing and/or material testing assistance may be required periodically (all training on material testing to be provided).

Required Qualifications:

• Licensed PE in Ohio .
• 5+ years of civil construction experience .
• Ability to interpret complex construction plans and specifications.
• Comfortable spending regular time in the field - this is not a fully office-based role .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team-oriented with interest in mentoring and long-term company growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience with ODOT projects or other public infrastructure.
• Familiarity with construction inspection procedures and QA/QC standards .
• Proficiency in a paperless digital environment.
• Ability to manage multiple active project tasks simultaneously.
