Customs Brokerage - SR Entry Writer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customs Entry Writer to join our dynamic team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and procedures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with all government regulations while facilitating the timely and accurate clearance of import shipments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit customs entries using for air, ocean, and truck shipments.
• Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, etc.) for accuracy and completeness.
• Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS).
• Coordinate with importers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to resolve any entry-related issues.
• Ensure entries are compliant with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, as well as other PGA (Participating Government Agencies) requirements.
• Monitor and track entries to ensure timely clearance and delivery.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and trade compliance standards.
• Handle post-entry processes including protests, corrections, and duty refunds if necessary.
• Respond to CBP requests for information (RFI) and other inquiries as needed.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in customs brokerage or entry writing.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and import compliance.
• Knowledge of FDA, USDA, EPA, and other regulatory agency requirements is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple entries and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
