This role is a part of the Data Engineering and Analytics team within our Technology group. You’ll bring your data engineering, collaboration and analytics skills to help cultivate a data driven culture by designing and delivering analytics solutions and making data analytics easier and more effective for American Airlines. What you'll do Note: This list reflects current responsibilities but may include additional tasks as needed. Management may modify the job or assign other duties, observing all legal and collective bargaining obligations. Design, implement, and support analytics solutions in collaboration with source data application teams and product owners. Implement data migration and engineering solutions using Azure products such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, etc., as well as traditional data warehouse tools. Engage in all development lifecycle phases: design, cloud engineering (infrastructure, network, security, administration), data ingestion, preparation, modeling, testing, CICD pipelines, performance tuning, deployment, BI, alerting, and production support. Provide technical leadership and collaborate within a team or work independently. Participate in a DevOps team that owns and supports their products. Develop batch and streaming data pipelines using cloud technologies. Establish coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines. Mentor team members on technical and domain skills to foster multi-functional teams. All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience. At least 3 years of software development experience using agile and DevOps methodologies, including designing and implementing large-scale applications or data solutions. At least 3 years of data analytics experience with SQL. Minimum 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure), including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure EventHub, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI. Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Spark, Unix, SQL. Familiarity with data platforms like Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, Snowflake, and Azure Data Explorer. Knowledge of Azure cloud services and CI/CD tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform. Experience with BI analytics tools such as Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, Grafana. Understanding of data governance and privacy tools like Informatica Axon, EDC, BigID, or similar. Preferred Qualifications Over 5 years of software development experience in large-scale applications or data engineering. Over 5 years of data analytics experience using SQL. Over 3 years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure. Additional airline industry experience is a plus. Skills, Licenses & Certifications Expertise in Azure data management and ingestion services. Practical knowledge of Azure native cloud services. Spark Certification is preferred.
