Director of Government and Community Relations Join to apply for the Director of Government and Community Relations role at California State Polytechnic University-Pomona . Position Details Type of Appointment: Full-Time, At Will Job Classification: Management Personnel Plan (MPP I) Anticipated Hiring Range: $105,000-$120,000 annually (dependent on experience and qualifications) Benefits Include: 15 paid holidays, up to 24 vacation days, comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, CalPERS pension plan. Department Overview The Division of University Advancement aims to enhance private support and engagement through programs, events, and activities involving alumni, donors, and community partners. It manages relationships and contributions to the university, including oversight of the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundations. Key Responsibilities Government Relations Develop relationships with elected officials at all levels to promote university initiatives and legislative priorities. Manage visits and events involving officials, including logistics and materials. Prepare issue papers, briefing materials, and communications to support university work. Collaborate with campus partners on government relationships and funding requests. Draft reports and briefing materials on legislative issues. Community Relations Develop and implement community engagement strategies. Identify partnership opportunities supporting local events and initiatives. Coordinate visits and events with community organizations. Address community concerns proactively. Engage with regional economic agencies to promote job creation and business development. Represent the university at public forums. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years' experience in government or community relations, political campaigns, or strategic communications. Experience managing senior leadership and working diplomatically with diverse groups. Strong understanding of political processes and policy integration. Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to build effective relationships with government and community stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of higher education government issues. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and maintain confidentiality. Experience working in multicultural environments.
