Position Title: Financial Empowerment Coach

Location: Goodwill, Wilmington De

30 hours per week

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Conducts financial health assessments and provides individual financial coaching services, including budget and credit/debt management counseling, to clients through the Stand By Me program.
  • Empowers participants to identify their personal financial goals and assists them with developing an action plan to achieve financial milestones.
  • Refers participants to program partners to achieve specific financial goals, such as home ownership, debt consolidation, and foreclosure prevention.
  • Collaborates and maintains relationships with Stand By Me partners to ensure that participants achieve goals.
  • Participates in all financial coaching training programs offered by Stand By Me.
  • Schedules and delivers program-related presentations, including program orientations and Mind Over Money workshops.
  • Achieves exceptional program outcomes as defined by the Stand by Me program.
  • Maintains case records, written reports, and ongoing communication with referring organizations, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
  • Documents all services provided and enters relevant data into CaseWorthy and other required data systems in a timely manner. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all data entered in various data systems.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all sensitive information including but not limited to program information.
  • Develops outreach programs and strategies to bring awareness of the Stand By Me program and our services. Participates in efforts to promote financial coaching services to potential participants.
  • Works as a member of the cross-functional team providing services for clients enrolled in the Stand By Me program, sharing information, participating in team meetings, and helping to track client progress and outcomes.
  • Works to advance the organization’s mission and achieve departmental goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least one year of experience in personal finance, social services or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of personal financial management principles and the financial industry including credit, lending, savings, and budgeting.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software programs or comparable software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage participants in financial coaching services.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to interact collaboratively with a diverse constituent population.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to handle confidential data.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work evenings or weekends and to travel, as needed.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel between various work sites.
