Position:

We are looking for experienced Reading and Intervention Specialists. If you have proven results helping struggling readers and struggling students be successful, we want to talk with you. Bonus if you have a reading certification or experience using Orton Gillingham methods. Keep reading to see if you are a perfect fit!

These positions are IN-PERSON at our learning center in McLean, VA, and all candidates must be able to work in center and must be able to commit to at least a year with our kiddos. Please do not apply if you cannot commute to McLean, VA or if you cannot commit to the school year. And don't worry. We are following strict health guidelines for your safety and that of our students and staff!

Responsibilities:

• Coaching and guiding students to meet their academic goals
• Confidently tutor struggling reading students 1:1 or up to three students per hour in our center.
• Use proven reading strategies to help students overcome reading challenges.
• Teach students how to learn. Your strong growth mindset and welcoming personality will help each student excel and feel great about being here.
• When applicable, assist with schoolwork and helping students master content.
• Follow provided curriculum for each student, tailoring to each student's needs and learning style.
• Demonstrate a firm and loving nature with students, setting effective boundaries and helping them stretch academically! Our kids look up to our coaches as mentors.

Compensation and Benefits:

• A base salary commensurate with experience and performance-based pay raises. Pay is between $20-$25 per hour depending on qualifications. We love experienced and licensed specialists and will pay more for your experience and abilities!
• $200 Signing Bonus after 90 days of employment.
• A consistent, flexible, and reliable work schedule that allows your weekday mornings to be free! During the school year, we work with students Monday through Thursday 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday 3:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work IN-PERSON (please do not apply if you cannot; we do not have online opportunities).
• Ability to commit to at least one year with Tutoring Club (our students depend on it!).
• The ability to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, consisting of at least two, 3+ hour shifts per week, but the more the better (Saturdays are awesome, too!).
• Ability to work some of the following: School Year - Monday through Thursday 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Friday 3:00pm to 7:00pm, and Saturday 9:00am to 3:00pm; (We begin at 9:00am on weekdays during the summer).
• A Bachelor's degree or are an exceptionally strong undergraduate student with at least 60 credit hours in college.
• Access to reliable transportation so you arrive on time.
• The ability to confidently tutor to three students at the table each hour in varying subjects. Don't worry, we provide fantastic training!
• A reliable laptop, intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google Docs/Sheets and interactive whiteboards, and the ability to confidently navigate the internet and multiple browser tabs. This will make you a whiz at all our online software and make you even more efficient.
• A passion for our mission and our students' success, and a <3 of working in a team atmosphere that celebrates the success of our students.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, prior tutoring experience, and thorough content knowledge.
• The desire to deliver remarkable experiences to others! We work for our parents' awesome reviews -- they love giving them to us -- when we earn them!

Once you finish that, you will receive a link to complete the 12 minute Cognitive Assessment. Please take the assessments in the language that you are most proficient.
