What You Will Do

The Internal Application Scientist is focused on leveraging advanced software tools to design and implement laboratory automation workflows with a specific emphasis on data-centric solutions. The position primarily works on integrating the Green Button Go software suite to streamline automation workflows for biological/pharmacological research, clinical diagnostics, and academic studies. In addition this role applies software and system integration expertise to design, implement, and troubleshoot solutions involving LIMS/LMS and other relevant data systems.

This role guides customers through complex automation challenges, acting as a key technical resource to ensure successful software deployment and workflow integration. This position will require both deep technical knowledge and strong customer-facing communication skills. 

Travel as needed (up to 25%), including internationally, to assist with deployment, training, and customer support.

Candidates should reside in San Diego, CA.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and integrate automation workflows using the Green Button Go Scheduler and Orchestrator software.
  • Serve as a technical lead, collaborating with customers to understand their workflow needs and define software requirements for automation solutions.
  • Utilize your expertise in programming/scripting languages (C#, JavaScript, Python, Visual Basic) to customize workflows and automate processes within Green Button Go.
  • Work with customers to gather and understand specifications for data infrastructure, integrating LIMS/LMS with Green Button Go to ensure smooth data exchange.
  • Collaborate with the Applications team and Solutions Architects to identify the primary data infrastructure needs and develop a comprehensive implementation plan.
  • Develop detailed documentation, including acceptance criteria, system design, and risk assessments, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Act as a conduit for transferring customer feedback to product development teams, contributing to continuous improvement of Biosero’s software solutions.
  • Participate in customer training, ensuring users are equipped to maximize the value of Green Button Go in their automation workflows.
  • Manage and mitigate any risks associated with automation solution implementation, ensuring customer satisfaction and system reliability.
  • Travel as needed (up to 25%), including internationally, to assist with deployment, training, and customer support.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Additional advanced degrees or certifications in software engineering, data systems, or laboratory automation are a plus.

. Training, Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a technical role focused on laboratory automation, data integration, or software development, preferably in a life sciences or biotechnology environment is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with software tools and scripting languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, or Visual Basic, particularly in automation and data integration contexts.
  • Solid understanding of automation workflows, LIMS/LMS, and data infrastructure in the context of laboratory automation.
  • Familiarity with laboratory automation equipment and instrumentation (e.g., Agilent, Thermo Fisher Scientific, HighRes).
  • Experience designing and integrating complex automation solutions involving multi-functional software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and tight timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
  • Familiarity with relational (SQL Server) and non-relational databases (CosmosDB, MongoDB) and data interchange formats.
  • Prior experience working in or with laboratory environments, especially in biological or pharmacological research settings, is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to drive project success.
  • H ands-on experience with Green Button Go software or similar workflow automation platforms preferred.

Benefits
