Internal Communications Specialist

This is a W2 contract opportunity

Duration: 6 months (possibility of extension)

Hours: 40/week

Location: St. Louis Park (hybrid preferred, remote okay)

Pay: $30/hr - $40/hr

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist with strong project management and PowerPoint skills to join our dynamic team. This role will support corporate and employee communications with strong writing and editing skills, and produce engaging content for emails, intranet, Teams, PPT and other channels. You will work closely with the Internal Communications Director, to manage a variety of projects and ensure the steady delivery of high-quality editorial content.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute internal/employee and corporate communications projects from concept to completion
• Write, edit, and refresh routine intranet and email content with an authentic employee voice
• Create compelling PowerPoint decks for internal presentations
• Develop and manage a strong editorial content calendar, ensuring a steady stream of content and articles across multiple channels (ie: intranet, email, etc)
• Liaise with business units across the enterprise to gather information, conduct brief interviews (1–2 quotes/photos), and deliver key content pieces
• Oversee multiple small-scale projects and brief article assignments simultaneously
• Receive direction from internal comms director and autonomously drive projects forward
• Focus exclusively on corporate communications and employee communications, no marketing, external or investor communications responsibilities
• Optional: Video experience is a plus but not required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in internal communications or a related field
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to independently manage deadlines and deliverables
• Excellent writing and editing abilities for emails, intranet articles, and PowerPoint presentations
• A portfolio including at least one writing sample and one PowerPoint slide example (internal focus preferred)
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment undergoing rapid change
• A self-starter mentality—able to work autonomously while collaborating as needed across business units
• A positive attitude that contributes to a full and happy team culture
• Central time zone or local to Minnesota preferred for collaboration; hybrid work strongly preferred but fully remote will be considered for the right candidate
