In-person Exhibition: From the Heights Join us for From the Heights , South Florida native Kabuya Pamela Bowens-Saffo’s first solo art exhibition in Miami. Featuring works from 1977 to the present, this exhibition celebrates her practice as a printmaker and her legacy in the South Florida art community. Based in Miami, Bowens-Saffo has been involved with the Miami Black Arts Workshop (MBAW) and has served as an influential educator at the Barnyard Community Center in Coconut Grove. Her impactful experiences in Richmond Heights and Coconut Grove have nurtured her consciousness and fueled her decades-long commitment to art that speaks to social and political human relations, focusing on the African American experience. Born in Richmond Heights, Florida, and currently residing in Tallahassee, Bowens-Saffo holds a BFA from Howard University and an MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. She has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts. From the Heights explores the role of art collectives, the significance of archiving an artist’s work, and addresses issues of race, gender, and class in historical context.
