ENTRY LEVEL ROLE!

This position is open to high school graduates with an aptitude for science, fresh graduates, or anyone open to a 9-month contract role with a science background.

Contract - 9 month assignment

Education:

• Minimum – High School degree with interest and aptitude in science.
• Associate's degree or equivalent in a science-related or technology/engineering related field preferred. Bachelor's Degree in a science related field is also acceptable.

The Vacuum Coatings Process Group develops new coated glass products and processes. We are seeking a temporary contract technician to provide support for our research and development activities for about 9 months.

Job Responsibilities:

* Photography, microscope imaging, and visual analysis of glass and coating defects.

• Mixing and handling of chemical formulations and performing tests with chemicals.
• Summarizing results in spreadsheets, written reports, and power point summaries

Required Skills/Experience:

• Adherence to safe work practices and compliance with all environmental, health,

safety and security protocols as required in documented procedures.

• Aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on laboratory work using all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software.
• Ability to accurately organize, enter, and plot data in Excel spreadsheets or other software packages and generally good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Info:

• Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 8 hours per day, 40 hours a week – Flexible between lab hours could be expected based on tasks for the week.
• Typical work environment is an industrial research and development laboratory setting in Cheswick, PA .
• Overtime may be available on occasion but typically does not exceed 1-2 additional hours per week.
• This position may require travel to US manufacturing plants. Travel would typically be multiple weekdays at a time, but some weekend travel may be required. While traveling on Vitro business, approved travel expenses (e.g. airfare, lodging, meals, etc.) are fully reimbursable. Overtime will be paid for work travel and travel periods that exceed an eight-hour workday.
