Job Title: School Social Worker

11 Month Positions

Job Summary : A School Social Worker in Tennessee delivers mental health support and
social-emotional interventions within K-12 settings. Acting as a vital link among students,
families, schools, and community agencies, this role aims to remove barriers to academic
success by providing both direct and indirect services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments: evaluating emotional, behavioral, and social factors affecting
  students and crafting targeted intervention plans for academic and personal success.
• Provide individual, group, family counseling, including crisis intervention (e.g., safety and
  threat assessments, suicide risk).
• Participate in IEP, 504, and student support meetings,
  setting behavioral and social-emotional objectives.
• Serve as a district-wide liaison: consult with teachers, parents, school psychologists, and
  community/mental health agencies to support student progress.
• Deliver case management, including referrals and wrap-around services to community
  resources, especially for families in crisis or identifying as McKinney-Vento eligible.
• Lead prevention initiative and staff development for the district (e.g. trauma-informed
  practices, SEL).
• Document thoroughly: progress notes, assessments, compliance with confidentiality,
  data tracking, and billing as required.
• Provide home visits and work directly with families as necessary for support or follow-up.
• Participate in district crisis response teams, truancy interventions, and collaborate with
  juvenile justice when needed.
• Maintain compliance with the Social Work Code of Ethics and Teacher Code of Ethics.

Qualifications : -
Master's degree in Social Work or Licensed Master Social Worker by Tennessee's Board
of Social Worker Licensure.

Experience : -
Skills: - - -
Preferred 3 years of experience working with children, families, or within educational
settings.
Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and documentation skills
Effective communication skills, able to effectively collaborate across school, family, and
community.
Ethical, empathetic, and culturally sensitive

Additional Requirements : - -
Valid driver's license (travel may be needed between schools and homes)
Flexibility for occasional after hour duties, as required during crisis, community meeting
and parenting classes.
