We are seeking a full-time SMT Operator in our Salem, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling surface mount technology (SMT) electronic sub-assemblies using robotic machines. Essential functions include learning and applying basic skills for becoming a certified SMT Operator, attending to machines by quickly and efficiently loading feeders with reels of components, entering programs into automated placement machinery, setting up support fixtures, and prepping multiple assembly lines for the next shop order. You will also be responsible for providing daily status and process communications, aligning and hand-placing components in specified relationships, performing operator level preventive maintenance on machines, and troubleshooting component placement and machine issues. You must be able to lift and move 30 pounds, possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, and comply with Garmin's attendance policy and DOT requirements. High school diploma or GED, previous machine operation experience, and demonstrated verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills are required.
